Sa fronti\u00e8re sud et ouest est bord\u00e9e par le canton de Berne et le canton du Jura et au nord par le canton de B\u00e2le-Campagne et \u00e0 l&#8217;est par celui d&#8217;Argovie. La ligne de cr\u00eate franchie par les cols routiers du Passwang et de La Scheulte marque la limite de ces bassins versants.<\/p>\n<p>Le canton de Soleure culmine au Hasenmatt, \u00e0 1 445 m d&#8217;altitude, et son point le plus bas se trouve \u00e0 Dornach, au bord de la Birse, \u00e0 277 m d&#8217;altitude. Avec 790,49 km\u00b2, Soleure est le seizi\u00e8me canton suisse par sa superficie.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c9conomie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jusqu&#8217;au XIX<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle, l&#8217;agriculture \u00e9tait la principale activit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique du canton. Jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 r\u00e9cemment, la fabrication de chaussures \u00e9tait une activit\u00e9 \u00e9conomique importante, mais le canton suisse n&#8217;\u00e9tait pas assez comp\u00e9titif face \u00e0 la concurrence mondiale.<\/p>\n<p>Le canton abrite la centrale nucl\u00e9aire de G\u00f6sgen pr\u00e8s de D\u00e4niken qui a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 fonctionner en 1979.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En 2021, le canton de Soleure compte 107 communes, r\u00e9parties sur 10 districts, qui ne sont plus utilis\u00e9s depuis 2005 qu&#8217;\u00e0 des fin statistiques.<\/p>\n<p>Le canton de Soleure poss\u00e8de deux fragments s\u00e9par\u00e9s par le canton de B\u00e2le-Campagne, \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re avec la France. Le premier est compos\u00e9 des communes de B\u00e4ttwil, Hofstetten-Fl\u00fch, Metzerlen-Mariastein, Rodersdorf et Witterswil ; le deuxi\u00e8me de la seule commune de Kleinl\u00fctzel.
