Il est bord\u00e9 par le canton de Lucerne au nord, le canton de Nidwald et d&#8217;Uri \u00e0 l&#8217;est et le canton de Berne au sud. Le canton se situe essentiellement dans la vall\u00e9e de la Sarner Aa au sud du lac des Quatre-Cantons, avec une enclave autour d&#8217;Engelberg.<\/p>\n<p>C&#8217;est l&#8217;un des plus petits cantons. Les activit\u00e9s foresti\u00e8res et connexes sont particuli\u00e8rement importantes, tout comme l&#8217;agriculture. L&#8217;agriculture d&#8217;Obwald est sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans l&#8217;\u00e9levage int\u00e9gr\u00e9 de produits laitiers et de viande. Les exploitations agricoles sont toujours familiales.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tourisme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Le tourisme est un secteur majeur de l&#8217;\u00e9conomie. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 sa situation centrale dans les Alpes suisses, Obwald a pu s&#8217;imposer comme une destination touristique importante au 19<sup>e<\/sup> si\u00e8cle. De nombreuses installations construites pour le tourisme profitent d\u00e9sormais \u00e0 l&#8217;industrie locale et \u00e0 la population.<\/p>\n<p>Deux des montagnes, \u00e0 savoir le Pilatus et le Titlis, constituent les principales attractions. En \u00e9t\u00e9, la randonn\u00e9e et l&#8217;alpinisme sont les principales attractions. Un quart de la population est directement ou indirectement employ\u00e9 dans le secteur du tourisme.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En 2008, le canton d&#8217;Obwald compte 7 communes ; contrairement \u00e0 d&#8217;autres cantons, ces communes ne font partie d&#8217;aucun district.
