Le canton est bilingue, le fran\u00e7ais \u00e9tant parl\u00e9 par les deux tiers des citoyens et l&#8217;allemand par environ un tiers. Les deux sont des langues officielles du canton. Une partie de la commune de Gurmels est \u00e9galement enclav\u00e9e dans le canton de Berne, il s&#8217;agit de Wallenbuch.<\/p>\n<p>Le canton se trouve sur le plateau suisse \u00e9lev\u00e9. A l&#8217;ouest les terres sont plates, mais vers le sud-est du canton, les terres s&#8217;\u00e9l\u00e8vent jusqu&#8217;\u00e0 une r\u00e9gion vallonn\u00e9e. Cette r\u00e9gion est commun\u00e9ment appel\u00e9e pr\u00e9alpes mais fait partie des alpes bernoises. Le point culminant du canton est le Vanil Noir avec 2389 m.<\/p>\n<p>La rivi\u00e8re Sarine coule du sud au nord du canton. Avec ses affluents, il draine la plupart des terres du canton, puis rejoint l&#8217;Aar. La Broye draine l&#8217;ouest du canton et se jette au nord-est dans le lac de Morat. Les principales activit\u00e9s agricoles sont l&#8217;\u00e9levage bovin et la production laiti\u00e8re. La r\u00e9gion est un important producteur de fromage, notamment la commune de Gruy\u00e8re, patrie du fromage du m\u00eame nom.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;industrie du chocolat est \u00e9galement bien implant\u00e9e \u00e0 Broc, si\u00e8ge d&#8217;un centre international de recherche sur le chocolat. Les autres produits agricoles comprennent le tabac, les fruits et les c\u00e9r\u00e9ales. L&#8217;agriculture est pr\u00e9dominante dans le nord du canton o\u00f9 se trouvent les terres les plus fertiles.<\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;industrie l\u00e9g\u00e8re est concentr\u00e9e autour de la capitale Fribourg. D&#8217;autres centres d&#8217;industrie l\u00e9g\u00e8re sont Bulle, Villars-sur-Gl\u00e2ne, Guin, Morat et Estavayer-le-Lac. Ces cinq centres comptent \u00e9galement un grand nombre de petites et moyennes entreprises \u00e9tablies, dont beaucoup sont dans le secteur des services. Les zones de montagne attirent les touristes toute l&#8217;ann\u00e9e. Les r\u00e9gions lacustres sont fr\u00e9quent\u00e9es par les touristes en \u00e9t\u00e9 et en automne.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Communes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>En 2022, le canton de Fribourg comprend 126 communes. Seules Fribourg, Bulle et Villars-sur-Gl\u00e2ne sont statistiquement comme des villes (plus de 10 000 habitants). Cependant plusieurs communes jouissent du titre de ville de par leur histoire. Le plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bre exemple \u00e9tant la ville de Gruy\u00e8res, ancien si\u00e8ge des Comtes de Gruy\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>La for\u00eat domaniale du Galm, petite zone bois\u00e9e de 2,54 km\u00b2, ne fait partie d&#8217;aucune commune ; elle est directement administr\u00e9e par le canton de Fribourg.<\/p>\n<p>Le canton s&#8217;\u00e9tend \u00e9galement sur les lacs de la Gruy\u00e8re, de Morat et de Neuch\u00e2tel, sans que ces zones ne fassent partie d&#8217;aucune commune.<\/p>\n<p>Voici la liste des communes composant le canton avec, pour chacune, son district, sa superficie et sa population au 31 d\u00e9cembre 2020.
