Il est arros\u00e9 par plusieurs fleuves dont la Charente \u00e0 laquelle il doit en partie son nom.<\/p>\n<p>Dot\u00e9 d&#8217;un secteur primaire encore important gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 une agriculture diversifi\u00e9e et la premi\u00e8re conchyliculture de France, la Charente-Maritime n&#8217;a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 un d\u00e9partement industriel.
