La\u00a0collectivit\u00e9 d\u00e9partementale\u00a0dispose quant \u00e0 elle, pour l&#8217;exercice des comp\u00e9tences qui lui sont d\u00e9volues, d&#8217;un organe d\u00e9lib\u00e9rant, le\u00a0conseil d\u00e9partemental, et d&#8217;un organe ex\u00e9cutif, le pr\u00e9sident du conseil d\u00e9partemental, qui pr\u00e9pare et ex\u00e9cute les d\u00e9lib\u00e9rations du conseil d\u00e9partemental. Il est assist\u00e9 \u00e0 cette fin de vice-pr\u00e9sidents et d&#8217;un bureau sur le plan politique et de services d\u00e9partementaux pour la mise en \u0153uvre des d\u00e9cisions.<\/p>\n<p>Le territoire d\u00e9partemental est \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9 comme circonscription \u00e9lectorale pour l&#8217;\u00e9lection des s\u00e9nateurs de la r\u00e9gion Bretagne.<\/p>\n<p>La cr\u00e9ation des d\u00e9partements fran\u00e7ais remonte au\u00a0d\u00e9cret du 22 d\u00e9cembre 1789\u00a0pris par l&#8217;Assembl\u00e9e constituante de 1789, effectif \u00e0 partir du\u00a04\u00a0mars\u00a01790.
