Jiangsu is one of the twenty two provinces that, together with the five autonomous regions, four municipalities and two special administrative regions, make up the People's Republic of China. Its capital is Nanking; Other important cities are Suzhou, Wuxi, Zhenjiang and the port of Lianyungang. It limits to the north with Shandong, to the east with the East China Sea - more than 1000 km of coast -, to the southeast with Shanghai and to the west with Anhui. The current limits of the province were established in the seventeenth century.
