Highest elevation points:
- Maximum altitude point: Uhuru Peak, Kilimanjaro Tanzania, 5.895 m.
- Minimum altitude point: Assal Lake, Djibouti, -155 m.
The average height of the continent is approximately 600 m above sea level, similar to the average elevation of both North America and South America, but considerably lower than that of Asia, 950 m. In contrast to other continents and is characterized by the lack of extremely high or extremely low zones. The plateaus of the south and the east have an average height of 1000 m and rarely fall of 600 m.
